January 2014

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

Happy New Year!  It is hard to believe that we have finished 2013 and are winding down the first half of the school year!  Time is flying by quickly; we are making great strides!

Our students have been working hard.  We are in the process of beginning our mid-year assessments as we near the end of the semester, which is January 24.  These assessments will allow us to determine the amount of progress each student is making.  They will also help us make instructional decisions in a continued focus on student academic success.  Teachers will update you on your child’s progress with our next report card, which will be sent out January 31.  For students in grades three, four, and five, please remember you are able to check your child’s grades through Parent Portal. If you have questions about Parent Portal, please contact an administrator for more information.

The school will be hosting a “Beat the Winter Blues’ event for our students and staff members.  Each Friday during the month of January and February, we will have a special theme.  A calendar outlining the various themes for each Friday is located on the back of the newsletter.  Please encourage your child to participate in our “Beat the Winter Blues’ activities!

December 2013

It is hard to believe we have completed two six weeks and are a third of the way through the school year!  The student are doing fabulous; I’m sure the next few weeks will be filled with excitement.

As you know, we changed our procedure for students being picked up.  I appreciate your patience as we fine-tune the details; this new procedure adds a level of safety for our students and more organization to the traffic flow through our pick-up room.  I would like to ask for those of you taking your students out to the playground that our school safety rules be enforced; we ask for students not to stand on the top of the equipment or hang upside down.  This helps the teachers when they are out at their daily recess to ensure the safety for all students.

We have lots of exciting things happening in the next few weeks.  Please refer to the important dates listed below so your child will not miss out!  Thank you for your continued support!
